Day 1.
Two handed race from Antibes to St. Jean Cap Ferrat today (tomorrow race back). Big winds (30-34kt), large seas off the Cap, and a quick race! We ended up 3rd out of 18 in class, and was 6th boat out of 47 to cross the finish line. A grand day out. We’ve left Sadiiqi in the very posh port of St. Jean – she was eyeing up a cute Italia Yacht as we left – suspect there’ll be trouble tonight and we’ll be asked to leave…
Day 2.
After a night in the port in Cap Ferrat, the start was in the Bay of Beaulieu for a dash back along the coast to Antibes. The wind was forecast to be fairly light – 7 knots or so. A downwind start under Code-0 with a reasonable bit of shouting as the boats converged on the line with spinnakers up (always exciting), and we were off. After a mile we turned the corner, got rid of the code-0, and settled into upwind with jib and main. The wind built, and built a bit more, then some more. Ok so the forecast 7 knots was now up to 20! Some boats went offshore, we headed for the beaches, and on we went. Glorious day with the snow capped alps in the background, flat water, and stiff breeze. We ended up 5th in class for the day, making us 3rd overall in class for the weekend.
A good weekends racing!
